How StockX fees work
- Transaction fee starts at 9% for new sellers and drops by 0.5% per seller level — verified trades and consistent activity earn level-ups.
- Payment processing is a flat 3% applied to the item price only (StockX handles buyer shipping separately).
- StockX provides a discounted FedEx shipping label after each sale. Enter what you actually pay for shipping under 'Your shipping cost' for accurate profit.
- Authentication is included — no separate fee. Failed authentications return the item to the seller without payout.
- Some category-specific rates (e.g., trading cards) may differ from the standard sneaker/streetwear rates shown here. Verify category before relying.
Frequently asked about StockX fees
How do StockX seller levels work?
StockX uses a 5-level seller system. Level 1 (new sellers) pays a 9% transaction fee. Each level up shaves 0.5% off the transaction fee: Level 2 is 8.5%, Level 3 is 8%, Level 4 is 7.5%, Level 5 is 7%. Levels are earned by completing verified trades — typically 1, 3, 8, and 30+ trades respectively, plus consistent activity and volume.
Is authentication included in StockX fees?
Yes. StockX's 9% transaction fee (or lower at higher seller levels) plus 3% payment processing includes authentication at one of their verification centers. There's no separate authentication fee — it's bundled into the standard cost of selling.
What happens if my item fails StockX authentication?
Failed authentications result in the item being returned to the seller — no fees are charged, but no payout is made. The seller is responsible for the return shipping cost. Repeated failed authentications can result in account penalties, including being charged a fee for wasted authentication time.
Is StockX cheaper than eBay for sneakers?
For most sellers at Level 1 or 2 (12% combined fees), eBay's 8% Athletic Shoes & Sneakers rate is actually cheaper. StockX becomes competitive at Level 4 (10.5%) and is cheapest at Level 5 (10%). However, StockX includes authentication which buyers value, and the buyer pool is more focused on sneakers — so velocity often matters more than fee percentage.
How long until StockX pays me?
After your buyer purchases, you have 2 business days to ship to StockX's authentication center. Once StockX verifies the item (typically 1-3 business days), the funds are released to your StockX balance. From there, you can transfer to your bank or PayPal. Total time from sale to payout: usually 5-10 days.
